Abstract

Student matriculation number is a unique identification and authentication number assigned to every student upon first enrollment in an institution. This unique matriculation number assists research and educational institutions to monitor, track, organize and transfer student records efficiently, effectively and reliably. This research paper is centered on the automation of student matriculation number generation in the Nigerian Defence Academy Postgraduate School, Kaduna. An algorithm was developed to automatically generate the matriculation number. The Unified Modelling Language (UML) was used to design the system and it was implemented using Java.
